World Sickle Cell Day 2018

The Centre of Excellence for Sickle Cell Research and Training (CESRTA), University of Abuja in collaboration with the University of Abuja Clinic and University of Abuja Medical Students’ Association (UAMSA) organized a walk within the Gwagwalada Area Council as part of the activities to mark the World Sickle Cell Day on the 19th of June, 2018.

The purpose of the walk was to create awareness of Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) especially as regards to the cause, diagnosis, control and prevention of the disease. Participants at the walk included doctors, nurses, medical laboratory scientists, pharmacists as well as SCD-related NGOs and medical students. Take-off point was Optima Energy Filling station through Park Road with termination at the University  Clinic at the University of Abuja, mini-campus. The visiting Global Health Fellows of the University of Chicago Chikaodili Anikanmadu and Feven Jembere participated in the activities.
