Professor Oyekanmi Nash

Oyekanmi Nash, PhD is the Director, Department of Genetics, Genomics and Bioinformatics, National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA), Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, Abuja-Nigeria. He is the Principal Investigator of H3Africa Bioinformatics Network’s NABDA Node, and the Human Variome Project’s Nigeria Node. He is the Coordinator of the Initiative for Translational Research on Tropical and Emerging Infectious Diseases at the NABDA-Southwest Biotechnology Centre of Excellence at the University of Ibadan. Before returning to Nigeria in 2006, he was a Research Associate with the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, where he worked on the evolution of HIV-1 Reverse Transcriptase for Molecular Biology applications.

As a Post-Doctoral Fellow with the Canadian Protein Engineering Centre of Excellence (PENCE), University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC, Canada, he had worked on the engineering of the first "Mannosynthase." for therapeutic applications. He is the Program Director of the Centre for Bioscience and Biotechnology Innovation (CBBI, a not-for-profit research and development initiative); and a Planning Committee member of the International Consortium on Anti-Virals (ICAV).
