The aim of the project was to run a pilot project and troubleshoot procedures for the investigation of genetic modifiers of sickle cell disease in patients from Nigeria. It is part of a series of concerted efforts to boost capacity for sickle cell disease research in Nigeria linked to the desire of Nigerian and British researchers for closer collaboration in this area.
